Primary Illness Graph

Cancers were the most frequently reported primary terminal illness for patients in Harbor Hospice care, for the state of Michigan and for the Nation.  For reporting purposes on this graph, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization tracks ten terminal diagnoses.   A misconception often exists that only those patients with cancer are served in hospice care.  As noted on this graph, Harbor Hospice cared for significant numbers of patients with Heart & Circulatory Diseases, Dementia & Alzheimer's Disease, Liver Disease, and Other Illnesses during the 1st Quarter of 2010.

If you have questions concerning hospice criteria for you or a loved one, please call 800.497.9559 and ask for the Harbor Hospice Admissions and Evaluations Department.
