How To Give
Memorial Gifts are a very meaningful way to remember the patient and his or her family following a death. At other times during the year, memorial gifts can be a meaningful way to remember a loved one or to honor someone at the time of their birthday or anniversary. When a memorial gift is made to Harbor Hospice, you will receive an acknowledgement and the family of the deceased person will receive notification of your thoughtfulness.

Memorial gifts are used to help patients and families who are uninsured or underinsured.  Through the generosity of many, Harbor Hospice does not have to turn anyone away if they aren’t able to pay for care.  We are grateful to our donors for making that possible.

Click here for a Memorial Gift Form if you wish to send a check.  If you wish to charge a memorial gift, please call the Harbor Hospice office, 231-728-3442 or 800-497-9559.

Contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice at any time and for any reason.  If you specify that your gift is sent in support of a specific program or need, your wish will be honored.

Gifts of Stock are handled both at the Muskegon office and through electronic transfer directly with the brokerage firm.  Information on both processes is available by calling the Harbor Hospice Development office.

The Hospice Endowment Fund was established in 1987 at the Community Foundation for Muskegon County to “assure the future of hospice care, particularly for those persons who have no insurance coverage.”  Income from the fund is used for patient care, bereavement programs and capital expenses.

The Poppen Residence Endowment Fund was established in 2003 also through the Community Foundation.  Income from this fund will be used to provide additional support for the needs of the facility. Gifts to either of the Endowment Funds can be made directly to the Foundation.  Individual and corporate donors to the Endowment Funds may take advantage of Michigan Tax Credits related to Community Foundation donors.

Leave A Legacy

What does it mean to leave a legacy to Harbor Hospice?
In simple terms, it means leaving a gift from your estate to Harbor Hospice
through a will or trust, or perhaps through naming Harbor Hospice as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or an IRA.    You may have heard this described as planned or deferred giving. Generally such gifts go into effect upon the donor’s death. Planned gifts come in all sizes and no matter the size, a planned gift is always very much appreciated To make it easy to leave a legacy, Harbor Hospice participates in the Leave  a Legacy – West  Michigan program designed to encourage donors to remember non-profit organizations in their will.

Thank you for considering a gift to Harbor Hospice.
